No More Miracles/Between Two Vanishing Points/ With Loveon the Tip of MyTongue / Mariposa Bound

There are no more miracles left my friend
So you better accept the bitter end
The magician has long since vanished
Not even Houdini could escape from your mess
The chains in your brain just won't break loose

I told you not to look too hard for loopholes
Cause you'd wind up with your head inside a noose.

There's no more air so don't hold your breath
You don't deserve a prolonged minute from death
I guess you're lucky the hangin tree burnt down
You were the arsonist spreading fire around
You were sitting on dynamite when you lit that fuse

I told you not to look too hard for loopholes
Cause you'd wind up with your head inside a noose.

There are no more people the world is all yours
But what can you buy when you own all the stores
Burn all your money it might warm your bones
For it gets mighty cold when you're left all alone
I tried to tell you but it wasn't any use

I told you not to look too hard for loopholes
Cause you'd wind up with your head inside a noose.

BETWEEN TWO VANISHING POINTS

A long row of telephone poles stand in a line
For a while I'll watch their shadow
Make an arc across the prairie.
A thousand sundials when I have no use for time.
So many miles I'll never know.
Like a painting done by Salvador Dali.

Past each horizon the future is unfurled
I’m standing between two vanishing points
On this endless Highway of the World.

Things take their proper perspective
In this apparent emptiness
In the sun and skies distance
I see symbols of life and death
When I walk with Mother Nature
I know no loneliness
Is not the Earth the substance
That the wind poured its breath?

Past each horizon the future is unfurled

Cars appear and disappear
As they speed past my thumb
I’m standing by a road sign
Where travelers have etched their names
I seldom get impatient since I know my ride will come
There are many names before mine

Many more will do the same.

WITH LOVE ON THE TIP OF MY TONGUE

If I promised you a thousand kisses and came up short by nine or ten
And had to do over the misses I'd gladly kiss you all over again
I would be in a heavenly bliss climbing a ladder of countless rungs
Eternally humming a symphony with love on the tip of my tongue
If I were to nibble from toes to head and got distracted halfway through
Would you quibble if I lingered a while on that mysterious part of you
I would be in a heavenly bliss
It's the center of the Universe when the planets are all aligned’
Where the essence of womanhood is rarely exalted —too often maligned

MARIPOSA BOUND

I took a ferry to Toronto Islands
Around the stern there was a jug band
That played ragtime all across the harbor
As ducklings swam in the steel grey water

I can’t begin to tell you the happiness I found
It was such a mellow day to be mariposa Bound

By the swimming area some people gathered round
Some kids in a new group with a traditional sound
They said they’d never met before the morning came
I believed them, but they were good just the same

I can’t begin to tell you the happiness I found
It was such a mellow day to be mariposa Bound

Visited areas where arts and crafts were displayed
Met some old friends and some new ones were made
Walked around a field where some Frisbees flew

Past gospel singers and a workshop for the blues

I met a girl in a green velvet dress

Her long blonde hair in a wistful sort of mess
If I may digress— I just have to mention
She blew bubbles to get my attention

Till at last the evening came with a sunset so fine
And a calm harbor reflected the Toronto skyline
The streets and subways filled with a happy sound
It was such a mellow day to be Mariposa Bound

I can’t begin to tell you the happiness I found
It was such a mellow day to be Mariposa Bound
