The First Earth Rise / Mankind's Finest Hours

It happened Christmas Eve Apollo 8 was televised
William Anders photographed the iconic “Earth-rise”
The Earth and Moon mission patch embraced Infinity
On the lunar horizon Earth appeared so heavenly
Genesis one to ten was read by the crew of three
God’s word came down for all of us to watch on our TV’s

Three Kings on camels and the brightest star of all
Were pictured on a greeting card taped upon a wall
The moon was waxing crescent that cold eventful night
Children all were starry eyed the future looked so bright
In the distance Silent Night could be heard at the Nativity
I was not the only one with high hopes for humanity

Of all the possibilities we are destined to embrace
From the moon our earth appears to be a peaceful place
That “First Earth Rise” must have been an incredible surprise
For God to see His Wonder through His children’s eyes
You don’t have to leave this world to have an Epiphany
When I see God in you and you see God in me

MANKIND’S FINEST HOURS

My head peaks through the clouds approaching Zero-G
I used to run in circles now I let the circles run in me
Would the spheres not line up in four-part-harmony?
If only the key to happiness could be found in one family
Lately I’ve been thinking about mankind’s finest hours
When other person’s beating hearts are put in place of ours

Yes I ate the captain’s cheese and gave his trap the slip
There’s nothing noble being the last rat on a stinking ship
My captain found God, “In carrying someone made of stone
Up to a safe plateau despite being heavy on your own”
In the urban twilight the countenance may seem dour
When other person’s beating hearts are put in place of ours

I hail from the Great White North where the money’s on the mark
Get your two bit dinosaur coins “de glow in da dark!”
Speaking of iridescence —when Dianne de Poitier was exhumed
Her red hair was aglow from the liquid gold she consumed
But there’s no guarantee that this vintage won’t turn sour
When other person’s beating hearts are put in place of ours

Five centuries ago drinking gold couldn’t keep the jet-set young
Do I dare to eat a peach with that love on tip of tongue?
I digress — what color is your Cool-Aid?  Red— grey or blue?
It really doesn’t really matter that stuff has a bad affect on you
The snake snuck up on the toad and in one gulps it devours
When other person’s beating hearts are put in place of ours

Was it when a solar eclipse proved Einstein’s Relatively?
Woodstock or when the King of Pop Moon-walked on TV?
Or when that fireman flew in with trunks of soil and holy stone
The first heart transplant — or when Dolly, the sheep was cloned?
Did I still have my paper route my shirt of “Flower Power”
When other person’s beating hearts were put in place of ours

As a grasshopper at my grandma’s house standing by the road
I saw a ghastly miracle in the rebirth of a swallowed toad
The high power of an auto intervened and sliced the snake in half
Escaping the belly of a beast sure makes an old toad laugh
Out the window at takeoff the sun rises on Freedom Tower

When other person’s beating hearts are put in place of ours

WHEN I SEE GOD IN YOU

If not for being invisible
How would God appear?
Are His and Her Signatures
Not throughout the Spheres?
The essence of the Universe
Is reflected perfectly
When I See God In You
And You See God In Me

Through the window to the soul
We find divinity
When I See God In You
And You See God In Me

Did it all start with a big bang—
Was there a Logos on God's lips?
Could a Cosmic Explosion
Create a perfect eclipse?
Nature may be evolving
But not so day and night
When God set things in motion —
She had one chance to get it right

Through the window to the soul
We find divinity
When I See God In You
And You See God In Me

Of all the possibilities
We're destined to embrace
From the Sea of Tranquility
Earth seems a peaceful place
We will end the suffering
From the ancient enmity
When I See God In You
And You See God In Me

Through the window to the soul
We find divinity
When I See God In You
And You See God In Me

The Ultimate Proof that God Exists

When I consider a total eclipse of the sun I cannot help but think that it is the ultimate proof that God exists.  Imagine a big bang occurring making billions upon billions of galaxies. Planets and stars and comets are swirling everywhere. Then it all comes together in our little solar system, where three spheres of radically different sizes are set in motion in differing orbits that just so happen to create a perfect eclipse. Not only that but there are tiny mountains and craters on the moon that create Bailey’s Beads. The moon is just far enough away that it has a gravitational pull that causes the seas to move thus allowing the highest form of creatures to crawl and end up walking with their head in the stars.

Unbridled chance expansion from the dawn of time does not make an eclipse confirm a grand design

[On May 29, 1919 a British group of astronomers led by saw exactly Sir Arthur Eddington went to the island of Principe to observe a solar eclipse. When the group developed their photos, they what Einstein had predicted: The light rays were being bent by the sun's gravity; thus proving the theory of relativity.]

WHEN I SEE GOD IN YOU

If not for being invisible
How would our Creator appear?
Are His and Her Signatures
Throughout all nature's Spheres?
Is the essence of the Universe
Not reflected perfectly
When I see God in you
And you see God in me?

God is in the reflection
We see in each others' eyes
We're created in His image
And are meant to multiply
Through the window of the Soul
We find divinity
When I see God in you
And you see God in me

Did it all start with a big bang?
Was there a Logos on God's lips?
And could a big bang
Create a perfect eclipse?
Nature may be ever evolving
But not so day and night
When God set things in motion --
She had one chance to get it right

Unbridled chance expansion
From the dawn of time
Does not make the sun's eclipse
Confirm a grand design
In the twinkling of an eye
We may grasp eternity
When I see God in you
And you see God in me

God is in the reflection
We see in each others' eyes
We're created in Her image
And are meant to multiply
Through the window of the Soul
We find divinity
When I see God in you
And you see God in me

The colors of your eyes
Matches your hair and skin
But what is more amazing
Is the world I see within
Your pupils are so amazing
The way they open and close
By day all colors are blended
By night a soft star glows

I may think the world of you
For all that you're made of
I love to see all nature in you
Cause it's your nature to love.
There's a universe in a flower
Where love and beauty blends
And a flower in the universe
Its blossoming never ends

Of all the possibilities
We're destined to embrace
From the Sea of Tranquility
Earth seems a peaceful place
We will end the suffering
From the ancient enmity
When I see God in you
And you see God in me

God is in the reflection
We see in each others' eyes
In our Heavenly Parents' image
We are meant to multiply
Through the window of the Soul
We find divinity
When I see God in you
And you see God in me
